When to Replace Your Toothbrush
Learn the practical signs that your toothbrush or powered brush head needs replacing.
Watch the bristles
Replace your toothbrush or powered brush head every three to four months, or sooner when bristles become frayed. Worn bristles are less effective at cleaning and can feel rough against gums.
Children may wear out brushes faster than adults. Check the brush regularly rather than relying only on a calendar reminder.
Store the brush upright where it can air-dry. Avoid sharing toothbrushes, and replace one after an illness if your dental professional recommends it.
